My new Aston Martin V12 Vantage

July 12th, 2010

This is my new Aston Martin V12 Vantage, in Fire Red.

I first saw it 3 months ago, in the showroom of the local Aston Martin dealer. And I immediately fell in love. I had been considering a V12 Vantage for a long time (actually, since I purchased my V8 Vantage), but this one, in this color… oh my god…

I managed to resist buying it for quite a while, but last week I gave in. It’s just too beautiful and too brutal. So now it’s mine :-)

Some specs:

  • 6.0-litre V12 engine
  • 510 bhp
  • 570 Nm of torque
  • Top speed 190 mph (305 km/h)
  • 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h): 4.2 seconds

And a couple more pics:

These pics were taken during a test drive, so it’s still on dealer plates. I will be able to pick it up in about two weeks, when Syts and I return from our trip to Dallas.
I have already reserved a parking spot, next to his little brother.

The V8 already sounds so great and is actually not lacking of performance. Is the engine alone really worth the upgrade?

By the way, what is the everyday fuel consumption of the V8?

The V8 sounds great indeed. My V8 now has a Quicksilver sports exhaust to make it even louder :-)
I agree that the V8 does not really lack performance, but who can resist even more power? The Vantage body sure can handle it.

Note that the V12 Vantage is different in more ways than just the engine. The suspension is tighter, it is 1.5 cm lower, the steering is more direct, semi-slick tires, light-weight seats, sports button, manual gear-box, different exhaust system. And of course a couple of cosmetic changes, like the big louvres in the bonnet, more carbon on the rear, wide side sills, different wheels.

The fuel consumption of the V8 is around 1 liter per 8 kilometers.
